Singing Sands

Singing Sands (2024) - As a tribute to the beautiful place I have lived for several years, I felt it was right to release this on Islander Day. I have grown very fond of this island and I created an artwork that represents the vibrant spring sunset colours of Prince Edward Island/Epekwitk. Blurred in the background is a depiction of the red sands of the island, the infamous lighthouse, and a blend of spring sunset colours. These colours are reflected in the hair of the subject, which when viewed sideways can be perceived as crashing waves. The subject is infused with music of the island and the sound produced by sand grains as they shuffle down the slopes of certain sand dunes on the beaches, producing a deep, groaning hum that reverberates for miles.
